The program offers community building activities and workshops to provide the tools, network, and resources that they will need to achieve their potential. The program offers assistance in finding and funding internships and research opportunities throughout their academic career.

Academic Assistance

Instructor and TA Office Hours

The Galvin Scholars program wants each student to be successful. Our professors set aside office hours for themselves and their TAs to keep the channel of communication open outside of the classroom. We strongly encourage our scholars to take advantage of these opportunities if they feel like they need additional help or guidance.

Tutoring

The Galvin Scholars program offers One on One Tutoring for some STEM courses. A faculty member can fill out a request form or a student can go to the Director and request this more personalized tutoring. The benefit is the tutor can work closely with a student on an individual basis to determine what they need to be successful.

Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers tutoring services predominantly in first-year courses, and all sessions are free of charge. Tutoring should supplement your layered strategy for academic success in a course. This program is offered through the Center for University Advising.

Ascend

A Scholarly Community Entering Notre Dame (ASCEND) provides an environment for incoming Notre Dame students with the opportunity to prepare for the rigors of Science and Engineering disciplines at Notre Dame before arriving on campus in the fall. This program is offered by the Department of Mathematics.

Atlas

The Academic Tutoring Landscape for Advising Students helps students navigate their academically challenging experience at Notre Dame. This is another program from the Center for University Advising that offers help with writing and reading strategies, library research, and more.

Mentorship Program

Our student mentorship program is a great way to build bonds within the program. Anyone (with the exception of seniors) can sign up to be a mentee, and, except for first years, people from all classes can also sign up to be a mentor. Being a mentee does not stop you from also being a mentor!
